Grotkovius John

Grotkovius John, (Polon. Grotkowski,) is frequently mentioned in the Synodical Acts, in which, and in the Diary of Smalcius, he is indifferently called Grokovius, Krotovius and Krotkovius. He was a Polish, or Lithuanian Noble, whom Smalcius induced, when a young man, to devote himself to theological study ; and to whom he gave his eldest daughter, Christina, in marriage, when she was at the early age of fifteen. Grotkovius settled first at Luclavice, in the province of Cracow ; removed to Zarsyn in 1612  ; and in 1620, at the Synod of Racow, relinquished the ministry, on the ground, that he felt himself unequal to the performance of its duties.
